Abstract

Landscaping has evolved beyond its traditional aesthetic role and is now recognized as an important strategy for addressing environmental challenges in urban and peri-urban areas. Sustainable landscaping improves air and water quality, enhances biodiversity, reduces urban heat, and strengthens ecological connectivity through the use of native plants and green infrastructure. It also contributes to climate change mitigation and adaptation by regulating microclimates and managing stormwater. Advances in technology, community participation, and supportive policies are further promoting the adoption of sustainable landscape practices. Overall, sustainable landscaping plays a crucial role in developing climate-resilient cities and creating healthier, greener, and more livable environments for future generations.
